The CA|SC Zine Project ACTION 003 is a workshop for children and teens in which they create a DIY zine about their lives and their communities. The fanzine, an easily made, duplicated and distributed medium with strong historical ties to underground culture and disenfranchised communities, is a perfect vehicle for young people, no matter what their living conditions or geographical location, to tell their own stories.

Through the use of drawing, painting, collage, storytelling and various other creative techniques, the zine makers describe their worlds and in the process explore ways in which they think about themselves and their environment. The resulting work becomes part of an ongoing conversation between kids from hugely diverse communities, broadening horizons while at the same time proving that that which unites us is much greater than that which divides us.

The first workshop took place in January 2017 at the “Muina Murui” ethnocultural centre for indigenous communities near Leticia, the capital of the Colombian Amazon, thanks to the support of the Hábitat Sur foundation.

In August 2017 the second edition took place in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya, as part of the MyStart foundation art residence program.
